En Phoenix Theatre
The musical Evita is considered by many to be Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s masterwork. Now Evita is playing 55 performances only in London's West End. Musical theatre and pop icon Marti Pellow plays Che, and the brilliant Portugueuse actress and singer Madalena Alberto plays Eva Peron.
Eva Peron was worn into poverty, but driven by ambition and a good portion of charm, Evita became a slartlet by 22, the president's mistress by 24, Argentina's first lady by 27, and when she died of cancer at age 32 a immortal myth was born.
The musical features some of the most popular songs in the modern musicals canon, including Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, On This Night Of A Thousand Stars, Another Suitcase In Another Hall, Oh What A Circus og You Must Love Me.
"Shout it loud. Evita is back with a bang."
"Marti Pellow plays a commanding che"
"Tim Rice's wittiest lyrics & Andrew Lloyd Webber's finest score"
